Scientific Awards


The 2011 Lifetime Career Award will be presented to Roy Baumeister (Florida State University) at the upcoming pre-conference on Self and Identiy at the SPSP meetings in San Diego on Jan 26, 2012. As award winner, Prof. Baumeister will be presenting an invited address during the pre-conference. He will be introduced by the 2011 recipient of the Lifetime Award, Mark Leary.

 

The winner of the 2011 Early Career Award is  Simine Vazire (Washington University). The society makes this award annually to recognize and encourage a distinguished junior scientist who has made outstanding theoretical and empirical contributions to the scientific study of human self. Prof. Vazire was selected for this award on the basis of the originality, quality, and impact of  her scientific research in the area of self and identity. As award winner, Prof. Vazire will be presenting an invited address during the pre-conference. She will be introduced by the 2011 recipient of the Early Career Award, Jessica Tracy.

ISSI Preconference
The Self and Identity Preconference at SPSP will be held on Jan 26, 2012 in San Diego. Registration is now open and poster submissions still are being considered. Please contact the ogranizers of this year's preconference (Rich Gramzow or Lora Park) if you have any questions or suggestions.
 
Service Award
ISSI occasionally recognizes outstanding service contributions to the field of Self and Identity with the ISSI Service Award. Constantine Sedikides (University of Southampton) has been awarded the 2010 Service Award for his many years of service to the Society and to the field.
 
Incoming Editor, Self and Identity
ISSI is pleased to announce that Rick Hoyle accepted our offer to assume editorship of Self and Identity.  Rick brings to the position intellect , wisdom, extensive editorial experience, and a reputation for efficiency.
 
Best Paper

ISSI has started a new award for the best paper published in Self & Identity each year. The 2011 winner will be announced soon.
